a gift

we’re all thinking about christmas gifts at the moment, but this little gift isn’t a yuletide one.
i recently managed to get a friend quite addicted to quilting. she has dived right in the deep end with a hexagon quilt, and she’s doing brilliantly. i feel that since i am responsible for this addiction, it’s only right that i give her some tools to help her along with it.

i designed these and made them up over the course of a few days.

my favourite part was embroidering the little stitchery details. i used cottage garden threads embroidery floss in “maple” and it was so lovely to work with.

it all fits very nicely in this bag, which should be easily stashed in a handbag.

i hope she likes it, and that you do to!

    What a lovely set.

The thread colours are really beautiful, they look like they transition well - not all variegated threads do.

    thanks claire!

Those are so beautiful! I have already been feeling the urge to do some embroidery, and this has decided me. I must finish knitting my Christmas presents, and then I can embroider away to my hearts content!

that urge to do some hand sewing can be pretty strong! i hope you got all your pressies finished in time!

Thanks Essie - it is beautiful and I am using it a lot. My niece LOVED the quilt. When she opened it on Christmas day she just gasped about 5 times and then started headbutting it. I asked what she was doing and my sister said that she was kissing it! Sure enough, she was. She won’t stop looking at it and running her fingers over it. Yay!

    Now for my next project…

    xx

that is brilliant! i am so glad she loved it. and she’ll have it for ever now - it will be an heirloom! :D
i want to see pictures, by the way! don’t be holding out on me!!!
