one of my favourite embroidery books is “made in france: cross stitch and embroidery in red, white and blue”. it has so many useful patterns, from lace to flowers, feathers to teacups.

there was one sampler in there that immediately caught my eye (i am very fond of samplers) and i decided that, rather than doing it with blue thread on white aida, i’d invert it and do white on blue:

i think the result is quite striking.
